George H. Gray

George H. Gray of Vassar, age 84, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw following a short illness, with his family by his side. George was born December 26, 1934 on the family farm in Juniata Township, the son of the late Glenn and Ruth (Perry) Gray. He was a graduate of Vassar High School class of 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. George was united in marriage with the former Lorna Holdburg on August 8, 1964 in Caro. George was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed going to tractor shows, cutting wood, spending time with his family, and working on old tractors and trucks, as he could fix almost anything. He was proud of the fact he was a ten-gallon blood donor. George was a life member of the Thumb Old Engine Club, Thumb Two Cylinder Club, Black River Antique Power Club, and the Thumb Octagon Barn. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-five years, Lorna Gray; two sons and their spouses, Mack & Bonnie Gray of Reese, Dave & Mary Gray of Vassar; four grandchildren, Cal Gray and friend, Tanner Northrup, Valerie Gray, Holly Gray and Sarah Gray; siblings and their spouses, Glenda Fackler of Vassar, James & Margo Gray of Sugar Island, Robert & JoAnn Gray of Vassar; brother-in-law, Jerald & Mary Fader of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two siblings, John and an infant boy; step-mother, Marion Gray; infant granddaughter, Allison Emily Gray; and brother-in-law, Curt Fackler. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dr. William Sanders and Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at a later time at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Watrousville United Methodist Church or the Thumb Octagon Barn (Sawmill).
