George Arthur LaJoie of Caro, age 89, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper in Saginaw. George was born June 6, 1934, to the late Raymond and Ellen (Walsh) LaJoie at the family home in Almer Township. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years. George was the surviving owner of LaJoie and Sons and in 1980 changed the name to Six L’s, Inc.; owned and operated with his brother, Charles, for over fifty years. He was very passionate about running his bulldozer and the survival of his company. Outside of work, George was a member of the Moose Lodge and absolutely adored his favorite staff members, Johnny Cat and Deereie. He loved listening to John Wayne, Jimmie Rodgers, and Gene Autry and watching his favorite movie, The Virginian. George’s hard work and dedication will be fondly remembered for many years to come.
He is survived by one daughter, Debra (Mark) Flikkie of Caro; siblings, Mary Asay of Texas, Esther (Jack) Smith of Caro, Roseann LaJoie of New Mexico, Edward (Peggy) LaJoie of Cass City, and Robert (Maxine) LaJoie of Caro; sister-in-law, Beverly LaJoie; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Iola Cragg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elaine (Raymond) Phillips, Bernice Bashton, Margaret (Chester) Kemp, Thomas LaJoie, Walter “Bud” LaJoie, Charles LaJoie, and Donald (Barb) LaJoie; and brother-in-law, Darrel Asay.
Funeral services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery with military honors afforded by the U.S. Army and the Caro American Legion Post #7. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to George’s caregivers, Chris Swayne, Josh LaValley, Pam Lawrie, and Cindy Karr, for all the compassion and care they have given him. Pallbearers will be his great-nephew, Tommy LaJoie and dedicated staff members, Josh Cook, Jeff Romain, Richerd Neuman, Scott Snyder, and Roger Tabako.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
