George Earl Philip Rivar

George Earl Philip Rivar of Caro, age 62, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 31, 2017. George was born June 3, 1955 in Detroit, the son of the late George Daniel and Doris Jean (Rupp) Rivar. He was united in marriage with the former Anita Bond on October 10, 1975 in Mayville, and she survives him. George spent his working career as a mechanic. He was a man who was always tinkering with something, playing practical jokes, was able to tell the most amazing stories, and would do anything for anyone. Once you met George, you were instantly drawn to him. He just had that friendly/guy next-door/kinfolk kinda vibe. George was also a great listener and did not judge you. You were forever changed for the better once George came into your life. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-three years, Anita Rivar; children, George Rivar II of Otter Lake, Stefanie & Enoch Sayers of Caro; two grandchildren, Brittney Keys of Caro, Leslie Frohriep of Gwinn; seven siblings, Sherry & Cliff Wimberly of South Carolina, Doris & Leif McRobbie of Marlette, Kirk Rivar of Peck, Jill Munday of Arizona, Tammy & Patrick Caughey of Tennessee, Scott Rivar of West Virginia, Kim & Mike Fay of Alabama. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dawn Systermann. There will be a memorial gathering from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the George Rivar Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Stefanie Sayers, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
