George H. Shaw, age 86 of Chandler Twp. died Monday evening, June 29, at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe.
He was born March 31, 1923, at the home of his parents, the late George and Laura (Seigwart) Shaw in Chandler Twp.
George was a 1941 graduate of Elkton High School. He never formally retired and worked on the family farm in Chandler Twp. all of his life.
In 1945, he married Dora Richards, she passed away in 2005.
On February 14, 1975, he was united in marriage to Rita (Abraham) Langenburg in Bad Axe. They have spent their winters in Florida since 1975.
George enjoyed working in his garden hunting, fishing and baseball. He was very competitive on the golf course and at the card table. He truly loved spending time with his family especially those grand and great grand kids.
Surviving are his wife, Rita; four sons, Bruce (Donna) Shaw of Honor, Glenn (Cindy) Shaw of Elkton, David (Linda) Shaw of Elkton and Paul (Stacy Homewood) Shaw of Pigeon; two stepdaughters, Beatrice (Al Beard) Flannery of Centerline and Pauline Polega of Port Austin; 11 grand children, Laura, Julie, Michael, Brian, Kami, Ryan, Jeff, Jason, Brad, Christina and Kimberly; four great grandchildren, Noah, Aidan, Mason and Kaylee; 15 step grandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Murray of Bad Axe and Marge McPhee of Pinnebog and his brother-in-law, Robert Champagne of Prudenville. Preceding him in death was a sister, Irene Champagne and two brothers-in-law, Sam Murray and George McPhee.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, July 3, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Thursday and after 10 Am Friday.
Memorials may be directed to Elkton Youth Center, Elkton Little League, Family discretionary fund or the Chandler Presbyterian Church.
