George M. Vargo, age 46 of Pigeon died Thursday morning at Scheurer Hospital Pigeon.
He was born February 22, 1964 in Cass City to Shirley (Papkey) Vargo and the late Reginald Vargo.
George graduated from Owendale Gagetown High School in 1983. He enlisted in the US Army shortly after graduating and returned to the area in 1986. He was employed as a melter at Huron Castings the past seventeen years and was at work when this spell occurred.
On October 13, 1998, he was united in marriage to Pamela J. Thorp in Bad Axe, and made their home in Pigeon.
George was and avid fisherman and enjoyed watching the NFL.
Surviving are his wife, five children, Brandon Vargo of San Diego, CA, Kristy (Todd) Marker of Saginaw, Mandy (Gary Haley)Harmer of Elkton, Paul Harmer III of Jackson and Sarah Ewald of Kingston; grandchildren, Todd Jr, Luc, and Benjamin Marker of Saginaw, Isaac, Oliver and KayLynn Haley of Elkton, Savannah and Kameron Ewald of Kinston; his mother, Shirley Brown of Caseville and siblings, Reg (Peggy) Vargo of Sebewaing, Tina Spencer of Cass City, Del Vargo of Owendale, Deb (Lionel) Superville of Washington State and John (LaDonna) Vargo of Pigeon.
Preceding him in death were a grandson, Ethan Haley and a nephew, Kyle Spencer.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 1 to 8 PM on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the family.
