Georgina Ramos Santos

Georgina Ramos Santos of Elkton, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Bay Shores Senior Care in Bay City. Georgina was born on February 22, 1937, in Falfurrias, Texas, to the late Pedro and Elida (Alvarado) Ramos. In her younger years, Georgina was a migrant worker with her family, which is what eventually brought her to Elkton, Michigan, where she met Alfredo Santos, Sr. The couple wed on March 15, 1954, in Bad Axe, and had just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary at the time of his passing on March 22, 2023. She retired from General Cable in Cass City.

Georgina shared her faith and cooking skills with those she loved. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and the St. Francis Altar Society, as well as a founding member of the Society for the Virgin of Guadalupe. Georgina adored children, cherishing the time she spent with her grandchildren who were precious to her and “adopted” all the neighborhood kids who lovingly knew her as Grandma. She is remembered for her excellent and authentic Mexican food and made sure no one ever left her house hungry. Georgina was also an avid quilter who loved taking part in quilting retreats and enjoyed taking “girl’s weekends” with family all over the state.

Georgina is survived by children, Alfredo Jr. (Lori) Santos of Elkton, Josefina “Lily” Mason of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Pedro (Janet) Santos of Bay City; grandchildren, Joshua (Celly), Chad (Sara), and Matthew (Kristian Diaz) Santos, Sarah (Graham) Watkins, and Brett (Jennifer) Lenda; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Colton and Brady Santos, Wyatt Watkins, and Oliver Coopes; sisters, Maria Adelina “Mary” Medina of Jackson, and Maria G. “Lupe” Ramos of Jackson; brother, Pedro Ramos, Jr. of Jackson; son-in-law, Steve Batts; sisters-in-law, Anita Harrant, Rosa (John) Klosowski, and Wanda Santos; and brothers-in-law David Armbruster and Lawrence Wasierski; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Georgina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfredo Sr.; daughter, Martha Batts; brother, Rogelio “Roy” Ramos; sister, San Juanita “Jane” Wasierski; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Guadalupe and Esperanza Hernandez; sister-in-law, Maria Armbruster; and brothers-in-law Joe Santos and Greg Harrant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, 15 Moeller Street, Pigeon, with Fr. George Amos presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family, with checks payable to Pedro Santos.
