Gerald "Dick" Dufty

September 22, 1940 — February 5, 2021

Sand Point

Gerald R. “Dick” Dufty, 80, of Sand Point, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at McLaren Bay Special Care in Bay City surrounded by family.

Dick was born September 22, 1940 in Elkton to the late Roy and Opal (Roth) Dufty. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1958. He married Peggy Lukasiak in 1970 at the Caseville United Methodist Church.

He was a lifelong farmer in addition to working at Active Industries as a machine repairman. Although technically retired, he never stopped working, including driving truck for this year’s sugar beet campaign. He could fix or build anything. He daily attended the “College of Knowledge” at Gott’s Corner. He was a jokester and he loved and protected his family over everything. His children and grandchildren were his life. Nothing brought him more pleasure than creatively finding ways to show his family he loved them.

Dick is survived by his wife Peggy; daughter Kim (Chad) Bring of Lyman, South Carolina, son Rick (Danielle Damen) of Ypsilanti and daughter Tami (Steven) Kreider of Caseville; grandchildren Sawyer (Isabella) Langley, Boden, Taggert, Falyn, Cash, and Tessa.

Private funeral services will be held with burial in New Bay Port Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 Monday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon.
