Gerald Stephen Ernat

Gerald S. Ernat, 93, of Caseville, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at home under hospice care.

Jerry was born December 26, 1928 in Detroit to the late Harold and Anna (Kusek) Ernat. He graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in 1947. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. On June 20, 1959 he married Amy Poleski at Ascension Catholic Church in Warren.

Jerry worked as a journeyman carpenter and millwright at Chrysler-Jefferson for 29 years, retiring in 1993. He bought property in Caseville in 1966 and moved there permanently in 1998 from Center Line.

Jerry is survived by his wife Amy; children Steve (Carol) of Waterford, Kathy (Jeffrey) Zacharias of St. Clair Shores, Beth Romeo of Clinton Twp, Joanne Murphy of New Haven and Dee Schuster of Harrison Twp; 6 grandchildren: Alissa, Zachary, Katie, James, Valerie, and Alexis Ruby; 3 great-grandchildren: Kate, Benny, and Leila; niece Sharon, her daughter Kristen and her son Nathan. He was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia and Marge.

A funeral mass will be 11:00am Saturday, December 10th at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. George Amos presiding. Military honors will be provided by the Caseville American Legion. Visitation will begin at 10:00am Saturday at church and continue until the time of the mass. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the services.
