Gerald Leroy Heilig

Gerald L. Heilig, 93, of Elkton, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.

Gerald was born December 8, 1930 in Minden City to the late William and Margaret (Oswald) Heilig.  He served in the US Army from January 1952 to December 1953.  He married Frances Kesterke on August 10, 1957; she preceded him in death March 30, 2016.  He enjoyed farming, dancing and was a Detroit Tigers Baseball fan.

He is survived by his three sons Randy (Susan) of Pigeon, Steven of Pigeon and Anthony (Deborah) of Commerce Twp; grandchildren Josh, Kim (Ryan), Chris (Cassie), Shawn (Ericca), Erin (Patrick) and Tim (Alyssa); great-grandchildren Hollie, Dallas, Reese, Reid, Kensington, Leighton and Madelyn; sister Lucy and brother Wolford.  He was preceded in death by 18 brothers and sisters.

Private funeral services will be at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Bouverette.  Interment will be in New River Cemetery.
