Gerald Millerwise was taken home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 2, 2010. He was bron March 18, 1925 in Sebewaing. He was the youngest of 4 brothers, Carl, Howard, Robert & Gerald.
On June 25, 1943 he entered the U.S. Airforce and eventually assigned to the famous 8th Air Force Heavy Bomber Division.
He served in the European Theater until October of 1945 and then was given an honorable discharge.
The 8th Air Force was B-24s and B-17s. Where Gerald was stationed there were 4 engine planes and each day that was flyable, 1000 of them flew. They all carried about 20,000 lbs. of bombs destined for Germany. At sun down the Royal Air Force started to go over another 1000 loads of bombs. The Air Force lost more men per capita than any other force.
In 1946 he married Kathryn Umbach at Immanuel Lutheran Church. This union produced four children, Karen (Mike) Gehrs, Jim (Carol) Millerwise, Leann (Chris) Geischen and Mark (Sherry) Millerwise, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 3 more on the way.
He was employed at Sebewaing Tool & Engineering Company from 1949 to 1988. He served six years as president of Immanuel Lutheran Church, six years on the Evangelism Board, and six years as an Elder. He also served as an Usher and on the Finance Board. He spent 11 years on the Village Council, and about 10 years on the Huron County Economic Development Board.
He was especially thankful to God for all of his life, for all the blessings he had been given, especially the ultimate gift of eternal life, through his son Jesus.
Visitation at the Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Sebewaing, on Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 2-5pm & 7-9pm.
Funeral Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 2pm.
Burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church Music Fund or the American Cancer Society.
