Gerald "Woody" Sochocki, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 31, 2020. Woody was born July 18, 1951 in Caro, the son of the late Raymond & Marion (Smith) Sochocki. He was a lifelong resident of Caro and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1969. On July 25, 1970, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, the former Linda Hack. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2019 after forty-nine years of marriage. Woody worked for over twenty-five years as a baker with his father at Trudeau's Bakery in Caro. Never one to sit for long, he also took several side jobs in masonry and construction before beginning a thirty-year career with Michigan Sugar that took him through every position in the factory, retiring in 2008 after nearly thirty years of service. Woody loved people and could talk to virtually anyone. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his annual fishing trip to Canada with friends. More recently, he could be found at the casinos or at home in his recliner. Woody is survived by three children and their spouses, Calvin Sochocki and his fianc, Evie Jimkoski, of Kinde, Brian & Val Sochocki of Caro, Sarah & Steve Trollman of Mayville; four grandchildren, Sammy Ann, Jackie, Jenna Lynn and Chevy; three siblings and their spouses, Daniel & Bonnie Sochocki of Caro, Suzie & Bryan Muska of Caro, Patty & Billy Dorman of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Woody's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Sochocki family residence at 1850 Gun Club Road, Caro, MI 48723.
