Geraldine "Gerry" Ann Koehler

Geraldine Ann Koehler "Gerry", age 72, of Sebewaing, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at her home. She was born in Saginaw on March 19, 1942, to Otto and Viola (Polley) Weippert of Gagetown. She was raised on the family farm with her twin sisters, Karon and Sharon. She graduated from Owen-Gage High School in 1961. She married Dale Koehler on August 4, 1962.

In 2002, Gerry retired from U.S.A. Schools, where she was known as "Miss Gerry" by the children. She was no stranger to hard work. She worked on the family farm, was employed at Pigeon Co-op Elevator, Walbro factory, Bates and Rummel's Grocery stores, and waitressed too.

Gerry was a member of New Salem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid in which she served on a variety of committees, including flowers, dinners, and chaired the social hours after services. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, baking cookies so the cookie jar was always full for the grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping and going to the beach with her dear friend, Ev.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dale. They were blessed with two children, David and Julie (Chad) Jacoby. Grandchildren: Zak and Doug Koehler and Connor, Kye and Jade Jacoby. Sisters: Karon (Allen) Nietzke and Sharon Engelhardt; step brother, Gary Harris; sister-in-laws: Clarene (Don) Parsell and Linda (Ernie) Cramer; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Viola Weippert, step father, Arnold Weippert, and her in-laws, Hank and Linda Koehler; brother-in-laws: William Bohn, Walter Koehler, and Dennis Engelhardt.

Visitation will be at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, from 1-9pm.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will be at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Memorial donations may be given to New Salem Lutheran Church or the U.S.A. Boys Soccer.
