Geraldine R. Butts

Geraldine R. Butts, 84, of Port Austin was called to her heavenly home on Friday, March 24, 2006 following a short illness. She was born May 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Norbert and Laura (Fraser) Krapp. Geraldine graduated from St. Catherine high school on June 12, 1939.
On May 5, 1966, Geraldine and Donald O. Butts were united in marriage in Hagerstown, Maryland. Prior to her husband’s death on February 3, 1973, the couple had owned and operated a jewelry store in Detroit. Geraldine later settled in the Thumb area where she enjoyed senior citizen events, attending the meal site and other activities at the U and I Club in Port Austin where she was a member. Prior to her eyesight failing, she loved to play BINGO, and enjoyed quilting, cross stitch and embroidery projects.
Surviving are her brother, Melvin Krapp and his wife, Loretta of Warren, Michigan. Also surviving are one step granddaughter, a step-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Leonard Krapp and her sister, Corinne Krapp Nicholson.
Cremation has taken place with arrangements made by Champagne Funeral Chapel, Inc in Elkton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin. Father Robert Pare will officiate at the Mass of Resurrection. Burial will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or the U and I Club in Port Austin.
