Geraldine Maxine Dewald , age 96, of Unionville, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro.
Gerry was born in Columbia Twp. on August 4, 1926 to Albert and Matilda (Becker) Neu. She married Frederick Dewald on May 12, 1951. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2003. Gerry loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, fishing, playing cards, and playing marbles and puzzles with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Fairgrove VFW Women's Auxiliary, leader of the Youth Group and helped organize many events for the community. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed being a member of the Unionville Moravian Church. She and Fred enjoyed relaxing and staying during the summer at Oak Beach in Caseville.
Gerry is survived by her children: Mitchell (Cheryl) Dewald of Caro, Dale (Sheri) Dewald of Unionville, and Tammy (Allen) Jacobs of Caro; grandchildren: Nicole (Alan) Miller of Sandusky, Shelby (fiancé Matthew Gotham) Dewald of Caro, Chad (girlfriend Debora Peters) Dewald of Caro, Diana (Chad) Russell of Essexville, Kevin (Nicole) Ruppal of Akron, Amy (Erik) Hatfield of Akron, Ashley Jacobs, Kayla (boyfriend JC Witherspoon) Jacobs of Caro; great grandchildren: Henry, Russell, Molina, Keegan, Kinley, Cadence, Jacob, Dreu and Carter.
Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, husband, children: Sandra (Donald, Jr.) Ruppal and Donald Dewald; and brothers: Walter, Arnold and Wilber Neu.
Visitation and service will all be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Unionville Moravian Church, 2711 Cass St., Unionville. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:30am until the time of the service at 11am. Pastor Jeff Bonn will be officiating.
Burial will be at Columbia Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Unionville Moravian Church, Suzan G. Komen (for breast cancer) or the charity of your choice.
