Geraldine R. Henry

Geraldine R. Henry, age 88, passed away at Caro Community Hospital on Friday, January 9, 2015. Geraldine, known by all as Gerry, was born October 25, 1926 in River Rouge, the daughter of the late Glen & Millie (Robinson) Hoard. She graduated from Caro High School and studied to be a teacher at Tuscola County Normal. Following graduation, Gerry taught for several years at numerous country schools before taking a position as a cook at Caro High School. She would later become a vision technician with the Caro Lions Club where she screened school-age children for twenty years. Throughout her working career, Gerry also balanced caring for her five children, tending to the family farm and serving her church. She was united in marriage with Stanley C. Henry on March 1, 1947 at the Watrousville United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2010. Gerry was a lifelong member of the Watrousville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a charter member of the square dancing club, "The Rocking 8's", and participated in the Watrousville Mother's Club and Juniata Farmer's Club. In her spare time, Gerry also enjoyed sewing, quilting, clogging, playing cards, cooking and camping. She will be best remembered for her deep commitment to her family, church and community. Left to cherish her memory are five children and their spouses, Virginia & Wayne Nesbit of Sandusky, Peggy & Eddie LaJoie of Cass City, Dennis & Barb Henry of Manton, Susan Rudy of Saginaw, Carolynn Neumann of Caro; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Gerry was preceded in death by one grandson, John Nesbit; and one brother, James Hoard. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Watrousville United Methodist Church with Revs. William P. Sanders and Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Wahjamega Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
