Geraldine Lucille "Jerry" Rivest

Geraldine Lucille Rivest of Caro, formerly of Bay Port, age 93, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at home, surrounded by her loved ones under hospice care. Geraldine, fondly called Jerry, was born February 6, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dewey and Ada (Harvey) Barr. On December 24, 1944, she married the late Eugene Rivest in Detroit. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Romulus where they raised their family. The two moved to Bay Port in 1976 to enjoy their property near the bay. Jerry worked for the Romulus and Elkton-pigeon Bay Port school districts as a bus driver for many years. She enjoyed traveling the country, tent camping with her husband and family, and eventually upgraded to various motorhomes. A trip out west every year to the buffalo and National Parks was always a must. Jerry loved watching the Game Show Network and nature shows. She enjoyed reading and all kinds of puzzles. Jerry had a love of animals, especially her many dogs over the years and a bird later in life. Time spent with her large family and special friends were always cherished moments. Jerry leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Jean Nichols of Caro, Gerry (Len) Sanders of Willis, Gene (Chris) Rivest of Hartsville, Tennessee, and Bob (Becky) Rivest of Akron; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jerry was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Betty & Wayne Petrie; son-in-law, Del Nichols; daughter-in-law, Treva Rivest; several special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. A funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at New Bay Port Cemetery. Jerry's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
