Gerard Michael Schniers

Gerard Michael Schniers of Caro, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at his home, surrounded by the loving care of his daughter. Gerard was born February 10, 1952 in Detroit, the son of the late Raymond & Assenath (Malloy) Schniers. He came to Caro as a young boy and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1970. In 1979, Gerard began a thirty-five-year career with the Village of Caro and owned his own lawn service and maintenance company during that period. His spare time was often spent outdoors on his many motorized toys, hunting, or fishing. Gerard looked forward each year to a hunting trip in Ontonagon in the Upper Peninsula. He'll be remembered as a hard worker, but also someone that enjoyed finishing a hard day in his hot tub. He was a devoted caregiver to his significant other, Gloria Rodriguez, for many years. In addition to Gloria, Gerard is survived by four children, Krysta Schniers of Caro, Gena Giddings of Caro, Bridget Schniers of Rochester Hills, Terra (Eugene) Partridge of Bay City; two grandchildren, Alana and Bryce; eight siblings, Judith R. Neuville, Josephine Spanks, Larry Schniers, Art Hollingsworth, Cynthia Hollingsworth, Ted Hollingsworth, Pat Proctor, Sharron Kern; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gerard was preceded in death by two children, John Giddings and Tanya Rodriguez; two siblings, Sheila Schniers and Joe Hollingsworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church, in Caro with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. Burial will follow at a later time at Columbia Township Cemetery on Graf Road in Unionville. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Schniers Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Krysta Schniers, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
