Gerta J. Hajdo, age 84, of Sand Point, died Friday morning, November 8, in her sleep at home.
She was born February 23, 1929 in Mannheim, Germany to Ferdinand and Johanna Spath and came to the US after WW II.
On January 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jozef E. Hajdo in Mannheim, Germany. They moved to Hamtramck, in February of 1950, where she worked at Popp’s Packing in Hamtramck and later at Kowalski’s Meat packing in Detroit.
Gerta and her family had been coming to the Caseville area since 1953. In 1965, they purchased property on Sand Point and retired there in 1986.
Surviving are her daughter, Irene (Mike) Hajdo-Fernandez of Almont; her son, Edmont (Cheryl) Hajdo of Roseville; two grandsons, James and Brandon; six great grandchildren, a great great grandson and her brother, Albert Spath of Germany.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 12, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. Fr. Robert Pare’, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 11 to 2 Tuesday
Memorials may be given to St. Roch Building Fund or the family
