Gertrude K. Quinn

Gertrude K. Quinn, age 97, long time teacher and educator, of Pinnebog died Saturday evening, January 14, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born December 20, 1908, at the home of her parents, the late Jacob and Christine (McIntosh) Krug in Sheridan Twp.
On December 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to Arthur Quinn at St Columbkille Catholic Church in Sheridan Twp. They farmed in Sheridan Twp for a time before moving to the Chandler Twp farm. They sold the farm in 1958 and moved to Pinnebog. Art preceded her in death December 30, 1982.

Mrs. Quinn received her teaching certificate from Huron County Normal and taught at several country schools in the area. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University, she began teaching at Elkton Elementary and then for the Laker School System, retiring in 1973.
She was a faithful member of St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog, Huron County Retired Teachers Assn., Alpha Delta Kappa (an honor sorority for outstanding women in education) and various women’s clubs. Gertrude enjoyed cooking and baking and had been very active in the Clothe-a-child program during the holidays.

Surviving are three children, Thomas (Linda) Quinn of New Concord, OH, William (Alice) Quinn of Davison, and Mary Jane (Daniel) Rockman of West Bloomfield; 9 grandchildren,Michael (Amy) Quinn, Tami (Keith) Hatfield, Ryan (Nikki) Quinn, Stephanie (Andrew) Showich, Jason (Robin) Rockman, Jeremy (Sarah) Calhoun, Shannon (Bruce) Arias, David (Diane) Robson, Denise (Tom) Schneider, Tyler Quinn and Hayley Quinn; 13 great grandchildren, Ashley Britney, Corey, Kristen, Emma, Sarah, Sylvia, Etta, Ethan, Jacob, Mason, Madison and Cameron; her brother, John Krug of Ubly, and two sisters, LoDeema Lemke of Sault Ste. Marie and Louella Meyers of Pontiac. Preceding her in death were a sister, Katherine Hurt and two brothers, Henry and Angus Krug.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, January 16, at St. Felix Catholic Church Pinnebog with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bad Axe.
Memorials may be given to St. Felix Catholic Church.
