Giovanna Marta Serazio

Giovanna “Gina” Serazio, age 92, of Caseville died October 30, 2010 on Sand Point while under hospice care.

She was born November 11, 1917 in San Diego, California to the late Makael and Giovanna (Guglielmo) Iavelli. She was raised in San Giorgio, Italy and there married Domenico Serazio on April 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2000.

She moved from Italy to Detroit in 1949 then later to St. Clair Shores and finally to Caseville. She was devoted to her family and homelife. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, visiting with friends and family, and traveling, including many visits to Italy.

She is survived by her son Peter of Sand Point; granddaughters Darlene (Jacob) Steenholdt of St. Clair Shores and Terri (Eric) Jaroch of Houghton Lake; and great-grandchildren Makael Grant and Sarah.

She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter-in-law Shirley.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 3rd at St. Roch Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Paré presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-8:00 pm Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. She will lie in-state one hour prior to mass on Wednesday in church. There will be a rosary at 7:30pm Tuesday.
