Gladys "Cubby" Jean Day

Gladys “Cubby” Jean Day, age 91, of Fairgrove, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 18, 1933, in Fairgrove to the late George “Duffy” and Margaret (Campbell) Culbert. Cubby graduated from Fairgrove High School with the Class of 1952.

On June 6, 1953, she married the love of her life, Ellis Day, and together they shared nearly 72 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a member of the Vassar Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as a board member of Daylight Enterprises. Always active in her community, Cubby readily volunteered to help with elections and census polling.

Cubby enjoyed bowling for many years and took great pride in mowing her lawn, a favorite activity of hers. She loved cooking and baking, with her mac and cheese being the most popular among family and friends. Thoughtful and selfless, she always put others before herself and never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her. With her kind heart, warm smile, and spirited personality, Cubby’s presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Cubby leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Ellis “Ellie” Day; children, Patricia (Mark) Gray and Michael Day; grandchildren, Matthew (Trista) Donovan and Marc (Sarah) Donovan; great-grandchildren, Leah, Lincoln, Colton, Dax, Logan, and Caleb. In addition to her parents, Cubby was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. The family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of her service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Vassar Seventh-day Adventist Church.
