Gladys Sholes, age 76, of Caro passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at St. Marys of Michigan, Saginaw. She was born on November 19, 1933 in North Branch to the late Lewis and Elsie (Morrell) Lake. The former Gladys Lake attended school in North Branch and on September 12, 1953 she was united in marriage to George Sholes. He preceded her in death in 1977. She worked for General Motors at the V-8 engine plant in Flint until her retirement. Gladys enjoyed feeding and watching birds, her garden, NASCAR, professional and college football, and swinging in her swing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by seven children, Roger (Nancy) Sholes of Caro, Tina (Mike) Yeager of Burton, Jack Sholes of Deford, Barry Sholes of Pontiac, Melody Sholes of Davison, Joseph Sholes of Davison and Scott Sholes of Deford; twenty grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sons, George, Gary, Patrick and William Sholes; two brothers and one sister, Charles & Jack Lake and Violet Adams. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Melissa DeRosia officiating. Burial will be at West Burlington Cemetery in Silverwood. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, Boys Town, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
