Glenn E. Chandler age 57, of Grant Twp. died Friday, April 3, at Bay Medical Center, Bay City of complications following open heart surgery.
He was born October 25, 1951 in Detroit to the late Laverne and Joyce (Conrad) Chandler. Shortly after the death of his father, Glenn and his brother, Dennis moved to Lake Twp to live with their maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Conrad.
After high school, Lakers Class of 1970, Glenn began a career in trucking. He lived in Bay Port 25 years, where he raised his family. He worked for several trucking firms including DC Transport, Caseville and Stone Transport, Saginaw for 15 years, retiring in 2005 for health reasons. Glenn "Woodchuck" (his CB handle) was very proud of the fact that he had logged over three million "accident free" miles. Many of those miles were logged with his traveling buddy "Wennier", a dachshund. In his free time, he enjoyed being a mechanic, wrenching on cars and trucks.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Chandler and fiancée Kristin of Bay Port and Gary (Marcie) Chandler of Bad Axe; five grandchildren, Tyler, Izzy, Mackinzie, Jared and Morgan; his brother, Dennis (Vickey) Chandler of Pigeon and his two buddies, Wennier and Chubs.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, John and Ruth Conrad and his uncle, Edgar Conrad.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 8, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and after 10 AM Wednesday.
Memorials may be directed to the Thumb Area Dialysis Center.
