Glennis “Ray” Griffith of Caro, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw after a courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born April 20, 1948 in Corbin, Kentucky, the son of the late Genina and Mary E. (Cupp) Griffith. He graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1967 and went on to attend Henry Ford College. Ray proudly served in the U.S. Army and AirForce for over six years during the Vietnam War. He worked in the computer industry as an IT tech, working on all types of xerox machines. Ray was known for playing the banjo, guitar, and had been active with the Church of God in Ecorse gospel music group. He had the kindest soul and would give you the shirt off his back.
Ray leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Shirley Schultz, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and two great-great-great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his siblings, Warren Griffith, Daniel Griffith, and Wilma Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. The family will be present to receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until the time of his service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola County Veterans Affairs.
