Gloria Evans of Caro, formerly of Detroit, age 70, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Gloria was born October 7, 1950 in Detroit, the daughter of the late William and Rita (Hosko) Nokes. Although born blind, Gloria braved this world without letting anything hold her back. After leaving a relationship due to domestic violence, she focused on putting herself through school for the blind to become a medical transcriptionist. She worked for several State of Michigan facilities, later retiring from the Caro Center. Gloria was an inspiration to her family and was always dedicated and hard working despite her disabilities and the hardships that she had overcome. She had many likes ranging from Elvis to her leader dogs, crocheting, and knitting. When not busy with her other hobbies, you could find her indulging in her love of books with her nose buried deep in her current reading selection. Above everything else though, was her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as she was always there for them whenever possible. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Lisa Ydrogo; a son, Raymond Miguel Ydrogo; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Angela Hinojosa, Justin, Raymond, and Jacob Ydrogo; nine great-grandchildren, Tristin, Trinity, Zahra, Gabriel, Adrian, Christina, Kellen, and Raelynn; a sister, Maria Vandenboom; and a brother, Brian Nokes; and a nephew, Jeffery Keel. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Keel. In keeping with Gloria's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider contributions to the Gloria Evans Family Discretionary Fund, c/o of Lisa Ydrogo, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, Michigan 48723.
