Gloria Greenfield

Gloria Greenfield of Caro, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Timberline Lodge in Caro. Gloria was born February 5, 1926 in Unionville, the daughter of the late Harold & Mildred (Muntz) Achenbach. She graduated from Unionville High School with the Class of 1943 and subsequently attended business school in Bay City. Gloria took a position with the State of Michigan shortly after her graduation. She was united in marriage with Fred Greenfield on February 26, 1949 and celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage prior to his death on May 22, 2007. In 1961, Gloria and Fred opened Fred's Mens Shop in downtown Caro with Gloria assisting in the operation of the business until 2002. She was a member of Caro First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and rooting for the Detroit Tigers. Gloria also enjoyed music, especially the Big Bands, and dancing with Fred. In her earlier years, she enjoyed tap dancing, playing piano, and saxophone. Gloria enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was fortunate to spend twenty-five years with her family in Caseville for the Fourth of July. Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Greg Greenfield of Mt. Hood, Oregon, Chris Greenfield of Boston, Massachusetts, Scott Greenfield and his wife, Donna, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren, Shelby, Tyler, and Ryan Greenfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow the service at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
