Gloria Marie Romatz, age 79 years, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City. She was born on July 2, 1929 in Detroit to the late Harold and Sylvia (Koester) Johnson. Gloria graduated high school from Eastern High School in Detroit. The former Gloria Johnson married Arthur Romatz on September 9, 1950 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1995. She was a homemaker and loving mother, a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ossineke where she sang in the choir, trained in opera voice and played the piano. In addition to her household activities, she sold Avon and Shaklee products as well as trimming poodles. She was self educated, and an avid reader, and even ventured into tax preparation. She is survived by one daughter and three sons, Robyn (Douglas) Blasius of Caro, Michael (Cheryl) Romatz of Sterling, Alaska, Douglas (Ann) Romatz of Pickford and Wayne (Rhonda) Romatz of Spring Lake; six grandchildren; a sister; Judy Deutschel of Lincoln; a sister-in-law; Virginia Johnson of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Johnson; and a brother-in-law, William Deutschel. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Arthur Reich officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Northwood Meadows or Hospice of Michigan.
