Goldie Scott

Goldie E. “Mama” Scott, age 71, a resident of Garrett, Indiana for the past two months and formerly of Caro, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 22, 2012 at DeKalb Health in Auburn, Indiana, following a long battle with breast cancer. Born February 6, 1941 in Fairgrove to James A. and Martha M. (Houghteling) Orton, Goldie married Allen J. Scott on August 30, 1958 in Caro. Mama was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always keeping her family as her top priority. Goldie was a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Caro for ten years, retiring June 1, 2012. She enjoyed her time working at Wal-Mart with her friends and was a people person, “You were lucky to have her in your life”. Goldie is survived by her husband, Allen J. Scott of Garrett, Indiana; two daughters, Nanette (Gary) Lindahl of Caro, Shelly (Jesse) Bachman of Garrett, Indiana; two sons, Robert (Martha) Scott of Kingston, and Steven Scott of Garrett, Indiana; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; four brothers, Raymond, Theron, Shane and Harold Orton; three sisters, Lillian Scott, Virginia Anderson and Kay Orton. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Goldie Scott; and three brothers, Kenneth, Junior and Herbie Lee Orton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
