Gordon Allen Taggett of Caro, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center - Cooper in Saginaw. Gordon was born November 23, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Arthur & Helen (Anderson) Taggett. He was united in marriage with the former Mary Dicks on April 30, 1964 in Deford, and she survives. He was a proud Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Gordon spent his working years as a millwright with General Motors in the Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw. Following his retirement, he worked with Midwest Water Treatment, Sheardy Rental, and served as a council member for the City of Caro. Gordon could often be found socializing and commiserating at McDonalds, Burger King and Murdogs Restaurants in Caro. He was happiest when with family, and also enjoyed building model boats, airplanes and tending to his flower garden. Gordon is survived by his wife, Mary Taggett of Caro; four children and their spouses, Dawn & Darrold Lipe, Marion & Lee Forbes, Brock & Jennifer Taggett, Ann (Dicks) & Shane Westover; three grandchildren, Courtney (Lipe) Blanco and her husband, Emilio, both serving in the U.S. Air Force, Cory Lipe, Mason Forbes; five step-grandchildren, Rachel and her husband, Matthew, Alan, Eric, Rhyse, and Olyver; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Zhalia Blanco; one sister, Gloryanna Post; one brother and his wife, Gary & Janet Taggett; his mother-in-law, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Gene Taggett; and sister-in-law, Janet Taggett. In keeping with Gordon's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Chris Taylor facilitating. Military honors will be afforded by the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Army. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
