Grace Isabel Herford, 94, of Elkton, died April 30, 2018 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Grace was born January 26, 1924 in Pinnebog to the late William and Gladys (Wallace) McPhee. She graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1941 and Grace Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and became a U.S. Cadet Nurse. She married Welland A. Herford May 11, 1946 at Chandler Presbyterian Church; he preceded her in death October 11, 1990.
Grace worked as a registered nurse at Scheurer Hospital, Hubbard Hospital and Bay Shore Camp. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was an active member of Elkton United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Bay Shore Camp, and the Elkton Retirees. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Jean of Lansing, Janis (Vinnie) Rugnetta of Brighton, Bill (Barb) of Elkton, Jim (Kim) of Elkton and Sherry (Will Clark) Wininger of Williamston; grandchildren Jaime Weeks, Mike Rugnetta, Adam Herford, Beth Rokicki, Luke Herford, Brandon Herford, Tara Herford, Chelsea Coussens, Ben Wininger and Carolynn Wininger; step-grandchildren Justin, Matt and Tim Bruce; 14 great-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Jean (Eugene) Simons, Margaret (Rae) Young, William McPhee, and George (Marge) McPhee.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, May 5 th at the Elkton United Methodist Church with Rev. Won D. Kim officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton and an hour before the service in church on Saturday.
