Gregory Allen "Greg" Mellon

Gregory Allen Mellon of Caro, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at The Pines of Burton, following a lengthy battle with cancer and a broken heart following the death of his beloved wife, Marleen. Greg was born March 18, 1951 in Flint, the son of the late George and Bonita (Beebe) Mellon, and was a graduate of Millington High School, Class of 1970, where he played football for many years. Greg was united in marriage with the former Marleen New on June 19, 1975. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2017. Greg was employed with Michigan Sugar Company and M.K. Chambers in North Branch. After his retirement, he returned to Michigan Sugar on a part time basis. Greg was a big sports enthusiast, especially football. He loved fishing, spending time with family, and spoiling Marleen. Greg is survived by two children, Heather Mellon of Cass City, Greg Mellon and his wife, Christy, of Washington; four grandchildren, Austin, Collin, Olivia and Eathan Mellon; four sisters, Gloria Szentessy of California, Darlene Rainbolt of Florida, Denise Parker and her husband, Bob, of North Branch, Karen Mellon of Maryland; two brothers, Keith Mellon and his wife, Gloria, of Washington, Timothy Mellon and his wife, Katie, of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Greg was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Mellon; and one sister, Susan Mellon. In keeping with Greg's wishes, cremation has taken place.
