Gregory M. Prill

Gregory Martin Prill, 62, of Elkton, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his sleep on December 16, 2021.

Greg was born on March 26, 1959, in Bad Axe, the son of the late Martin and Therese (Bouverette) Prill. He graduated in 1977 from North Huron High School in Kinde. He was married to Debra (Rogers) Prill from 1979 to 2006, and was later remarried to Aileen (Shedd) Prill from 2007 to 2020. Greg was an extremely hard worker. He grew up on a farm and continued to work on farms, and later in factories, including Spartan Carbide, Thumb Tool & Engineering, DRW Systems Carbide, and Huron Casting. He loved people, and he loved to entertain them with his larger than life personality and humor. In recent years, he spent his time volunteering with the Elkton Lions Club. He volunteered at over 150 Pop Up Food Pantries, helping to distribute food to people in need. He also regularly attended church services at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. When he wasn’t volunteering, he was happily enjoying a cup of coffee and chatting with anyone and everyone that he ran into in Elkton.

Greg will be deeply missed by many people, including his daughter Carey (Prill) Wendt, and his son-in-law Steven Wendt of Cary, Illinois; his son Bradley Prill of Mount Pleasant; his brothers Douglas Prill of Kinde, Lloyd Prill of Filion, and Marty (Carrie) Prill of Bad Axe; his niece Ashley Prill of Hinesville, Georgia; his nephews Zachary Prill of Sterling, Illinois, and Nicholas Prill of Bad Axe; and his granddaughters Aneliese Prill of Kodak, Tennessee, and Joanna Wendt of Cary, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Therese (Bouverette) Prill, his brothers Dennis Allen Prill and Stephen John Prill, and his sister Monica Ann Prill.

Greg was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2014, and he was given a second chance at life by a successful stem cell transplant. His family would like to thank his anonymous stem cell donor, as well as The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, and the excellent local physicians and friends who have provided care to him over the past 7 years. We cherish each and every additional memory that we were able to make with Greg during this time. God bless all of you.

Pursuant to Greg’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family will also arrange a large, outdoor celebration of life ceremony in the spring, so that everyone who knew and loved Greg will be able to attend, while also being respectful of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
