Gregory Sparks

Gregory Edward Sparks, age 53, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home, following a lingering illness. He was born June 29, 1958 in Traverse City, the son of Caleb “Kelly” George & Majean Elizabeth (Kahrs) Sparks. Greg was united in marriage with the former Carolyn Lanigan on September 8, 1984 in Leland, Michigan. He was employed by the State of Michigan as a Residential Unit Manager, first in Pontiac, then Caro, and finally in Lapeer for the last four years, totaling twenty-seven years of service before his retirement on July 1, 2009. Greg attended the Ellington Church of the Nazarene. He also enjoyed bow hunting, golfing and stock trading online. Greg is survived by his wife of over twenty-seven years, Carolyn Sparks of Cass City; three children and their spouses, Amanda & James Kilbourn of Essexville, Chad Sparks of Grand Rapids, Jeffrey Sparks, a student at Ferris State University in Big Rapids; his parents “Kelly” and Majean Sparks of Lake Leelanau, Michigan; two sisters and their husbands, Amy & Pete DeLille of Middleville, Michigan, Carrie & Robert DeLille of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Gregs wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene, 2545 Lazell Road, Caro, with Rev. Ron Comfort officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM.
