H. Hilda Collis

H. Hilda Collis, 100, of Caseville, passed away early Saturday morning June 19, 2021 at The Horizons Senior Living IV in Standish.

Born Helen Hilda Branda in Pinconning on November 19, 1920 to the late Julius and Minnie Branda. The family moved to the Caseville area to a farm on Kinde Road just east of the Pigeon River. She went to school at Rock City School until age 16. She married John “Jack” Collis on September 8, 1951 in the living room of the home he built and they resided on State Street in “Dutch Town,” raising four children: Saundra and Gene from a previous marriage and Jon and Rodney.

She loved flowers, gardening, chocolate, crocheting and pizza. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 3, 1962 and was active in her faith for many years, sharing the Bible message with others.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Jack Collis in December 1999, son Gene Henderson in September 2002, daughter Saundra Charlton in February 2009, five sisters: Ellen Branda, Pat Thompson, Pearl Griggs, Dorothy Bush, and Edna Singleton, and four brothers Wilmer, Edward, Robert and Elmer Branda.

She is survived by her sons Jon (Reggie) of Pigeon and Rod (Kim) of Lake; grandchildren Eric, Jill, Heather, Bobby, Calvin and Pierce; and great-grandchildren Ashley, Victoria, Colby and Acelin.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the following: The staff and the Horizons Senior Living IV in Standish for their friendship and service for the past 4 and a half years, the staff at Compassus Hospice for their care and service, and for our support staff, many dear friends and family, Thank you all.

Private interment will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
