Harley Barber

Harley Barber of Caro, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Medilodge in Cass City. Harley was born March 3, 1922 in Bay City, the son of the late Wilford and Cecelia (LaFond) Barber. He was united in marriage with the former Daisy May Caswell on April 23, 1957 in Gary, Indiana, and she survives him. Harley was a produce farmer with his father, and owner and operator of The Pub Bar in Caro. He finished his working career as a beer and wine salesman, retiring in 1985. Harley was a member of the Caro Lions and was very active in local politics. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, spending time in his yard and garden, and had an unending desire to fix anything that was broken. Harley is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Daisy Barber of Caro; five children, Lynn Kridler of Caro, Joyce Donath of Mayville, Gary & Louise Barber of Cass City, Robert & Kimm Barber of Akron, Ellen Pate of Florida; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Demsky of Florida. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
