Harold D. Damm

Harold D. "Howie" Damm, 83 of Pigeon, passed away early Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Born in Pigeon on June 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Roy Otto and Elsie A. (Lucht) Damm and graduated Pigeon High School in 1946. On June 17, 1949 he and Ruby L. Finkbeiner were united in marriage at the Salem E.U.B. Church, Pigeon.
Harold worked as a pinsetter at the old Pigeon bowling alley. He began working as a teenager at Damm's Implement, established by his father in 1919, and retired in the early 1980's. He was a past-president and former member of the Pigeon Lions Club, as well as a former member of the Pigeon Village Council. Harold was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, where he formerly taught Sunday School, served as usher, and was a member of the Administrative Council. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to Ruby, his wife of 62 years, he is survived by three daughters, Pam (Jack) Sturm of Pigeon, Nancy Gunden of Bay Port, and Connie S. Damm of Pigeon; four grandchildren, Jason (Leslie) Sturm of Saginaw, Kevin (Erica) Sturm of Pigeon, Bridget Gunden of Chicago, Illinois, and Andrew Gunden of Bay Port; two great-grandchildren, Nicklaus and Emily; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Rosenthal. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Merlin Damm, Clayton Damm, Lucille Kretzschmer, and Evelyn Hayes.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Salem United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gloria Haynes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Grandlawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church or Scheurer Hospital.

Friday, December 23 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.
AND AT SALEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, PIGEON:
Saturday, December 24 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.
