Harold “Angie” Harris age 74, of Elkton died Tuesday evening, June 12, after a long battle with lung problems.
He was born October 31, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Burt and Marie (Horenko) Harris and grew up in the Toledo area. After high school Angie served two years in the US Army. When he returned, he helped his father in the refrigeration business. In 1969, he moved to Sebewaing and to Elkton in 1975. Angie started his own business, A & H Refrigeration, repairing all types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. He operated it until his health failed last year.
On November 25, 1978, he was united in marriage to Janet Roberts at the Elkton Missionary Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, in the spring was one of the best Morell finder’s in the area and knew just how to prepare them.
Harold is survived by his wife, Janet; four children, Sandi Sojo of Ohio, Skip (Bridgette) Harris of Farmville, NC, Chuck (Virginia) Roberts of Angier, NC and Angel (Mike) Ney of Elkton; 11 grandchildren, Scott, Sara, Andrew, Kristopher, Erica, Nicholas, Megan, Chelsea, Sean, Courtney and Colin; six brothers, Ken, Jim and Floyd Harris all of California, Bill and Deb Harris of Unionville, Burt (Mary) and Bob and Shirley Harris all of Toledo and five sisters, Beverly (Don) Kain of Sebewaing, Sue Goebel of Bay City, Carol LaPonte of Florida, Shirley (Dick) Todd and Joanne (Sonny) Williams all of Toledo.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Tamara Stiff and four brothers, Don, Jack, Allen and Boyd Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, June 17 at Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton with Rev. William O’nan, pastor officiating.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Saturday and at the church after 2 PM Sunday.
