Harold Vernon Lankey

Harold Vernon Lankey, "Bud," age 81, of Caseville, died January 14, 2005 in his residence. He was born April 1, 1923 in Lansing to the late Harold and Madeline (nee Law) Lankey.

Harold served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a dive-bomber pilot in the Pacific Theater. Later he worked for Pontiac Motors before retiring and moving to Caseville permanently in 1964. He owned the Huron Marine in Caseville and was active in the community, having served as Harbor Master at the Municipal Marina, Caseville Township Supervisor, Past-President and charter member of the Caseville Kiwanis Club, and as a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a gifted artist and craftsman, and he enjoyed building models, furniture, drawing, sculpting, flying and reading.

He is survived by his daughters Penny (Rob) Reed of Caseville and Suzanne Lankey of Brisbane, Australia; grandchildren Ken Brendel, Amanda Brendel, Christopher Worchurst, Shelly Worchurst, Cory Reed, and Andrew Reed; and great-grandchildren Kaine, Nicole, Peyton and Finn. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn (nee Britten) on July 18, 2003.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7899 Crescent Beach Road, Caseville, with Pastor Jim Nihiser officiating. Memorials may be made to the church.
