Harold Powell

Harold J. Powell, age 83, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at Tendercare in Cass City, following a lingering illness. Harold was born October 17, 1927 in Fairgrove Township, the son of the late Albert & Mabel (Prime) Powell. He was united in marriage with the former Lila Skinner on November 5, 1945 in Fairgrove, and the couple cherished more than sixty-five years together. Harold will be remembered as a man that was happiest in the sand pit. As a forty-seven year owner and operator of Powell Sand and Gravel, he was naturally talented at working with excavating and bulldozing equipment. Harold took great pride in his work and would often give his time and talent to those in need. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Lila Powell of Fairgrove; four children and their spouses, Leeila & Warren Miller of Fairgrove, Harold James Powell, Jr. of Unionville, Gary & Laura Powell of Fairgrove, Ron & Brenda Powell of Palm Beach, Florida; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Evelyn Leverette of Centerville, Virginia and Elma Gunning of Traverse City; a son-in-law, Leonard Lubaczewski of Caro and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by one daughter, Delores Lubaczewski; one brother, Meryle Powell; and a half-brother, Jack LeValley. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tendercare in Cass City for the loving care they all gave to Harold during his stay there.
