Harriet J. Ryan

Harriet J. Ryan, 89, of Sebewaing, passed away June 12, 2011. She was born on May 5, 1922 in Sebewaing Twp., daughter of the late William and Emma (Hornbacher) Gettel. She married the Rev. Herbert E. Ryan on June 16, 1945. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1984. Mrs. Ryan was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Sebewaing, MI. Harriet was the last surviving Gettel of her generation.

Surviving are on daughter, Mrs. Patricia Pyne of Allentown, PA, and one son, Charles M. Ryan of Sebewaing, MI; 11 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Marquita Willoughby; and siblings, Ralph Gettel, Ruth C. Terrill, Esther M. Gettel, and Frederick W. Gettel.

Services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, June 16, 2011 at trinity United Methodist Church, Sebewaing, MI. The Rev. William Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Sebewaing, MI (family only burial service at cemetery).

Friends may call at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Sebewaing, MI, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 2-8pm. Mrs. Ryan will lie in state at the church from 1:30pm Thursday until the time of the service.

Memorial may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church-Mission fund or to the Bay Shore Camp-Ryan Scholarship Fund.
