Harvy L. Hamblen, age 64, of Colfax Twp. died Thursday evening, August 15, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saginaw.
He was born November 7, 1948, in Carrollton, MO to the late Henry and Flola (Stephens) Hamblen. He grew up in the Bogard, MO area and was a 1966 graduate of Bogard High School. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the US Army serving in Vietnam; he reenlisted several times serving a total of 20 years, retiring in 1988. After the army, he was employed, for five years, with High Tech, an independent contractor under Bell Telephone, and then worked with Hoffmaster, installing restaurant equipment all over the U. S.
Harvy liked to read, go bowling and in his early years enjoyed coon hunting in Missouri. He had a great since of humor and was quit the jokester.
Surviving are his significant other of 25 years, Jackie Steele; his children, Joe (Tracy) Hamblen of Manhattan, KS, Lisa Hamblen of Kansas City, KS, Jamie (Curtis) Wolschlager of Elkton and June (Lloyd) Fritz of Gagetown; nine grandchildren; a great granddaughter; his brother Mike Hamblen of Kansas City, MO; his sister, Donna George of Carrollton, MO and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, August 19 at the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. William O’nan, pastor will officiate with graveside military honor and burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Sunday and at the church Monday after 10 AM.
