Hayden Joan Strieter passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving parents, Amanda and John Strieter on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor after a very hard fought battle against hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). She was born May 12, 2017 in Bad Axe.
Hayden became our family’s everything in the far too short three and a half months that she lived with us. Even though she never truly knew what it was like to feel good, she still managed to smile and laugh with us, helping us to often forget how sick she really was. No words can express the void she has left in the hearts of our family, but we all feel immensely blessed by God to have had her in our lives. She will always remain close in the hearts of all of us, and we find great comfort in the fact the she is among family members in heaven, no longer suffering.
Hayden is survived by and will be deeply missed by her loving parents John and Amanda (Dubey) Strieter of Bay Port; her maternal grandparents Todd and Kay Dubey of Owendale and paternal grandparents Richard and Terri Strieter of Bay Port; her aunt Chelsea (Dubey) and uncle Matthew Rizzo; her Aunt Lesley and Uncle Michael Strieter, and two cousins Lane and Megan Strieter. Along with immediate family, Hayden has touched lives of many other extended family members, close friends and easily won over the hearts of all her doctors, nurses and hospital staff at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Those wishing to honor Hayden’s memory may make donations to the HLH Reseach Foundation www.liamslighthousefoundation.org, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital’s Family Hope Fund or the Ronald McDonald House, 1600 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI 48014
A private funeral service is being held at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne on Friday, August 25, 2017. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
