Hazel Atkinson

April 18, 1914 — March 16, 2006

Hazel Atkinson, age 92 of Elkton, died Thursday morning, March 16, 2006 at Sunny Acres Nursing Center, Bad Axe.
She was born April 8, 1914 in Grant Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Ostrum and Wealthy (Sherman) Summers
On October 23, 1935, she was united in marriage to Frank Atkinson in Caro. They farmed in Grant Twp. until 1962, when they moved into Elkton.
Hazel was a hard working lady and enjoyed first and foemost reading her Bible, baking for her family, doing crossword puzzles, quilting, crocheting, making rag rugs, and working in her vegetable and flower gardens.
She was a former member of the Gagetown Church of the Nazarene, the United Missionary Assn. and had been attending the Community Wesleyan next door the past few years.
Surviving are two sons, Dale (Cheryl) Atkinson and Jerry (Alma) Atkinson both of Elkton, five grandchildren, Darrin (Tina) , Tonya (Bill), Wendi (Shawn), Michael and Aaron; nine great grandchildren, Angie (Bill), Ken (Regina), Beth, Geraldo, Miguel, Connor, Hunter, McKenzie and Katie; three great great grandchildren, Talon, Kaden, and Kaleb; a brother, Lawrence Summers of Grant Twp. and her sister, Loretta "Rita" Woolner of Elkton. Preceding her in death were a son, Don; three sisters, Gretchen Severn, Reva Rasmussen, and Eliza Summers and two brothers, Clifton and Alton Summers.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Her nephew, Rev. Don Summers, pastor of Lighthouse Assembly, Saginaw will officiate with burial in Grant Twp. Cemetery.
