Hazel Simmons, age 95, a lifelong Huron County resident, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe of natural causes.
Hazel was born December 10, 1911 in Oliver Township to the late Henry G. and Nellie (Severn) Carson. On October 5, 1932 she married Leslie Raymond Simmons in Filion. Leslie preceded her in death on March 10, 2000.
For over 40 years Hazel owned and operated Simmons Adult Foster Care Home in Gotts Corner, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Pinnebog United Methodist Church and the Caseville Retirement Club. She enjoyed traveling, canning, crocheting, and playing BINGO.
She is survived by her children Leslie (Bev) of Caseville, Donna Cross of Caro, Rose (Bob) Stiebe of Filion and Richard of Kinde; 15 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Mary Forbing of Port Hope.
She was preceded in death by her sons Raymond, Robert and Henry; daughter Myrtle Marie; and great-grandsons Eric, Joshua, David and Henry.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at the Pinnebog United Methodist Church with Rev. David C. Freeland officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Twp. Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and from 10:00 AM Friday at the church until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made to the Pinnebog United Methodist Church.
