Hazel "Rudi" Sullins of Caro, formerly of Kingston, age 83, woke with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Rudi was born September 29, 1938 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Harold & Ileta (Canfield) Frickey. Her early years were spent in Ontario and she was employed with Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery where her nickname first came to be. In 1958, Rudi visited a bar on Fort Street in Detroit, donning a fur coat, and caught the eye of Clifton Sullins. It only took one dance to set the next sixty-four years in motion. Rudi and Cliff were married the following year on February 28th in Windsor. The young couple moved to Chicago to begin a family shortly after and remained there until 1963 when they came to the Detroit area. In 1980, Rudi and Cliff purchased a small farm in Kingston where they remained for nearly forty years. Rudi had to adapt quickly to the slower pace of country life and began using her natural sales ability by taking a position as an AVON representative. Her career with the company spanned over forty years and helped her connect with countless people in the area. Rudi was a prayerful woman and deeply devoted to God. She loved music and was never far from a radio playing in the background. She was a talented musician and could turn virtually anything into an instrument, including spoons, a washtub base, maracas, or especially her beloved tambourine. Rudi centered her life around caring for others and showed her love through her card ministry and healing chicken noodle soup. She would often say, "Don't worry about it, pray about it" to friends and family alike. Rudi enjoyed fishing, camping, winters in Florida, and finding a good deal on an item, even if she already owned it. She was determined, meticulous, and always prepared, traits that are carried on in her loving grandchildren. Her kind and open heart will be missed by many. Left to cherish Rudi's memory are her loving husband, Cliff Sullins of Caro; three children, Ileta (Mike) Sullins of Caro, Dale (Janet) Sullins of Caro, Darla (Jeff) Hilgendorf of Oxford; six grandchildren, Stacy (Joe) Bechard of Florida, Amanda (Jeff) Livingston of Florida, Leon (Brittney) Sullins of Florida, Daniel Zimmicky of Flint, Jena (Andrew) Wolkens of Mayville, Dustin LeValley of Washington; ten great-grandchildren, Noah, Luke, Sadie, Carter, Gabriel, Elliana, Huxton, Lyndon, Laythen, Westin; siblings, Brian (Sandy) Frickey of Windsor, Richard (Doreen) Frickey of California; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rudi was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Zimmicky; and siblings, Robert "Bob" Frickey, Nora Loveless, and Elizabeth "Betty" Roll. In keeping with Rudi's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Jep Bryant officiating.
