Helen M. Carlson, age 74, of Caseville, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Covenant - Cooper Hospital in Saginaw after a short illness.
She was born in Bay City on August 7, 1934 to the late Arthur and Rhea (Moultane) Brady. Helen attended St. Brigid School until going to Midland Public School in the 9th grade, graduating in 1953. After school, Helen worked as a bank teller for two years until getting married. Helen wed Dean Forest Carlson on March 12, 1955 in Indiana.
When Helen’s children were in school she was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, and the hot lunch program at school. In 1996 she retired to Caseville. She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, where she was active in the Women’s Society (past president), Christian Service, chairman of the funeral luncheons, and assisted at liturgies as a table setter, greeter and eucharistic minister
She is survived by her husband Dean; two daughters Darlene Marie Emery of Grover Hill, Ohio and Sue Ann Merry and her husband Michael J. of Sanford; grandchildren Michael Dean Liphard of Columbus, Ohio and Melissa Sue Liphard of Midland; brothers Robert (Honey) Brady of Colorado, Lou (Pat) Brady of Arkansas, and Tom (Sandy) Brady of Midland; sister Ginny (Larry) Labelle of Ohio; sisters-in-law Harriet Brady of Midland and Ann Brady of Lansing; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends in Midland and Caseville.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Blanche, JoAnn, and Marge; brothers Gene and Art; mother-and-father-in-law Arthur and Jessie Carlson; brother-in-law Richard Carlson and sister-in-law Joann Carlson; son-in-law Ron Emery; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville, Fr. Kenneth Yaroch presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Midland.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and one hour prior to mass on Friday at the Church. There will be a scripture service at 7:30 Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary.
