Helen Catalano

Helen “Dolly” Catalano, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, following a lingering illness. She was born October 23, 1922 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Lawrence & Elizabeth (Mustahaler) Yester. She was united in marriage to Giovanni Catalano in 1940 in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 2000. Helen was employed at Park Davis in Detroit as a Lab Technician for over 35 years. Helen was a member of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed watching the birds, gardening and was an avid reader. Helen is survived by one daughter, one son and their spouses, Rosemarie & Harvey Ostrander of Caro, John & Lois Catalano of Portage; three grandchildren, Kelly (Douglas) Hammons of Texas, Shannon (Gary) VanHoven of Kalamazoo, Kristopher Catalano of Portage; five great-grandchildren, Emily and David Hammons, Andrew, Alex and Kayla VanHoven; sisters-in-law, Ida and Betty Yester, Mary (Frank) Turco and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Helen was preceded in death by one son, Paul Catalano; two brothers, Edward and Lawrence Yester.
