Helen M. Esckelson, age 79 years, of Caro, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born Helen M. Harbin on December 20, 1927 in Mayville, to the late Corbin and Stella (Du Maw) Harbin of the Harbin family of Surrey England. Helen attended the Franzel and North Grove rural schools and graduated from Caro High School. In addition to being a devoted housewife and farm wife, she was a seamstress for the J.C. Penney Co. in Caro. In June of 1947 she was united in marriage to Leon Esckelson at the Wahjamega Church, where she was a long time member and attendee. Leon preceded her in death on May 6, 2006. In addition to a work effort, sewing was her life. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Roger Esckelson of Amelia Island, Florida, Eugene (Kathleen) Esckelson of Caro, Deborah (Raymond) Geraldo of Caro, Leon P. Esckelson of Amelia Island, Florida, Sheila (Jeff) Hallahan of Lake Orion and Teri (Rick) Hill of Davison; nine grand-children; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ila Manwell of Mayville, Lela Tanner of Flushing and Maxine Johnson of Warren, Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by the remainder of her siblings, Paul Schott, Beatrice, Ruth Goslow and Pearl Hampel. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Allen Stebbins officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Rich Bible Church Radio Ministry.
