Helen Ewald

Helen Ewald of Caro, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Helen was born December 9, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of the late John & Rose (Link) Young. She came with her parents to Caro at fourteen years old and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1944. Helen was united in marriage with Gordon A. Ewald on July 15, 1954 in Caro and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1988. Her working years were spent as a nurse's aide, first at the Caro Regional Center and later at the Caro Community Hospital and the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. Her final position was as a teacher's aide at Highland Pines in Caro. Helen was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. In her earlier years she enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, painting, and dancing. More recently, Helen appreciated visiting with family and friends that stopped by her home. Left to cherish her memory are two sons and their wives, Doug & Nan Ewald of Perry, Tim & Janine Ewald of Caro; three grandchildren, Gordon Ewald of Royal Oak, Caitlyn Ewald of Greeley, Colorado, Ellen Ewald of Perry; one sister and her husband, Delores "Dotsie" & Clarence Ewald of Unionville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Steve Bagnall officiating. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro.
