Helen Margaret Fahrner, age 107, of Kilmanagh, passed away early Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Close to Home Assisted Living under the care of Optimal Care Hospice.
Helen was born in Pigeon on March 12, 1918, to Tillman D and Emma (Brinkman) Soldan. She attended elementary at Winsor School and graduated from Pigeon High School in 1936. After high school, she attended cosmetology school. She married John Fahrner on July 26, 1941 at the Owendale Evangelical United Brethren Parsonage by Rev. Wayne Palmer. Helen was a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary and the Kilmanagh EUB Church, enjoyed playing scrabble, crossword puzzles, vegetable and flower gardening, camping at Rifle River and Bay Shore Family Camp, and cooking for her farmers during harvest in the fall.
Helen is survived by her children: Joan Setula of Kawkawlin, Richard (Judy) Fahrner of Saginaw, Fred (Faith) of Owendale and Charles (Terry) of Sebewaing; grandchildren: Vicki (Allen) Wangler, Chris (Krissy) Alexander, Carmel (Carl) Martin, Zach (Kelly) Setula, Adam Fahrner, Heather (Jeff) Fahrner, Kyle (Tina) Fahrner, Becky Fahrner, Phil (Joy) Fahrner, Kristy (Larry) Dumond, Andrew (Tara) Fahrner, and Aaron Fahrner; 16 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Frank Setula; brother, Elmer Soldan; sister, Ann Kreh; infant granddaughter, Amy Fahrner.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Inc. in Sebewaing from 3pm-7pm.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Bay Shore Camp – Family Center. Visitation will begin at Bay Shore at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor Jim Howard will be officiating. A luncheon will be served after the service.
After the service, cremation will take place and inurnment will take place privately at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be given to Bay Shore Camp or Gideon's.
